The artist HappySorry (on both FA and Weasyl and.....I think on a few other sites) created them with an homage to the old Owlbears from "Dungeons & Dragons", but she crosses different birds and bears to get their unique looks. :)
I've followed her for a long time, probably since I started being at FA (so 2012-ish), so I remember when she finally decided on the name of "Taum" for them. I think now her main gallery is over on DeviantArt. :)
