let's draw a simple sky: nighttime+space

keirajo

I have not yet gotten around to coloring any of my lingering artworks in my folders, so...........besides "Lemonade", I don't have new art to post this week. I thought I'd do a tiny "how to" of how a do a digitally simple sky background. Anyone can do it really! :D

Nighttime sky/space: This is a pretty simple one that allows you to have fun with splatter-type spraycan tools.

1--choose the color you want and look for the hues of that color. Make the swaths across the background of the sky like shown here.

2--using the "blend" tool in whatever program you have, softly blend out the lines between the hues of the colors so that your sky seems to naturally go from lighter on the horizon to darker at the top of the page.

3--on a separate layer, use your spraycan tool. In Manga Studio (CLIP) there are a couple nice effect brushes ("sparkle") and spraycan brushes ("droplet", "blurred spray") you can use to randomly spray the sky with stars. A long swath of stars like shown in the center here can represent the galactic edge. If you've never seen this in life, it's one of the most gorgeous things in the sky, ever.

4--Want to turn your nighttime sky into space, instead. Make a few planets just using a few circles, the blend and blur tools............do the same for a comet. You've turned your nighttime sky into a space background! :D

It's easier than you think it is. You should give it a try sometime! :D

I try to use more than just dark blue and black...so that's why I add some of the purple in there. :)
