Those water effects are fabulous <3

I won't be surprised to hear that this piece was inspired by the Foxy from the Five Nights at the Freddy's. Am I correct?
on 15 October 2014 at 04:16:18 MDT
Lol no. Eyepatch and hook are like, single most cliche pirate things ever. And I hate this game.
on 15 October 2014 at 04:26:07 MDT
True, but the actual trouble is that I won't be the only one to see the dead on similarly to the Foxy and this piece. I mean, there's the deadly simile, the fox, golden eyes, eyepatch, hook, some other little certain things about it. However, it is a different character that you created and your own. I think it's a great piece you worked on.

It's a commission, character isn't mine. But client's character happened to be a fox, my commissions were macabre themed and they wanted a pirate. So I tried to make a mutilated creepy fox pirate to go along with the theme given. Honestly, yeah, you're the second person to say it, but if anything, to me it just shows how banal the concept is. I mean come on, any pirate fox can be foxy and any bear in a tophat can be freddy.

And if you want to know, my inspiration was Pirates of Caribbean.
on 15 October 2014 at 04:28:42 MDT
How it is inspired? There's so many pirates movies out there, there's Hook and others.

I only watched this one. And inspiration is mostly colors - first pirates of caribbean had really distinct blue moonlit scenes - and I rewatched it pretty recently. When I was suggested - it was the first thing that came to mind. It's funny how little pirate movies I've seen otherwise.

I've never heard of the movie above (the fox thing) but I still really love this piece to bits ;v; Thanks again for doing this! <3 Everything in this is just superb! <3

It's not a movie, it's a indie horror game that was a fad in furry community because main "villains" are animatronic animals(it's called Five Nights at Freddy's). I suppose I overreact a bit because I happen to really dislike its visual side (in my opinion it's extremely unappealing :C ) and to me the idea that i drove inspiration for it is kinda absurd. But oh well. People always draw parallels to what they know, it's not like they mean bad. Most people happen love this game so... eh.
I'm still really happy with commission and even happier that you loved this picture! It was a blast to work on, really. Thank you!

Ever wonder why people do that though? I mean seriously what is the point in making a statement (it's often a statement and not a question) about what (they think) your influences are?
That aside this looks amazing and i love the colors and water effect in particular! :3
on 15 October 2014 at 12:35:44 MDT
I did and I think it's because people want to say something, and don't know what else to say. But who knows, really x)

True, the lack of understanding when it comes to social interaction that is so often found upon the internet does offer an explanation. Or at least that's how I see it. At any rate, I'll repeat that this is a very awesome picture. Hope to commission someday soon as well! :3

*anMy spelling........ :C

Oh! That game. No, it doesn't appeal to me either. (Sorry, confused moment ^^') Didn't like it from the beginning either tbh ^^' And I really can't see the similarity between this piece and the game characters.. but, as you said, people refer to what they know!
I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Nothing is better then the artist having fun and the commissioner beeing greatful ;v; (and your spelling is fiine, I'm norwegian so english isn't my native language to say it the least) again -- thank you <3

I think it's a wonderful theme, as well as great use of colours.

holy hell this is FANTASTIC WORK, especially the detail of the water. i really like the look of how it runs off the body especially, that adds a lot of life to the piece. overall it's very dynamic, fantastic work! (also this doesn't look like Foxy at all lmao)
