Attack on Mary Sues { Prologue } by KatsuCha

The smell of blood was something that she could never get over. Just something about the tangy metal smell in the air was unsettling to her no matter how many times she was forced to do her job. The smell was triggering of a memory, and she could never shake it from her. It followed her everywhere, ever since the attack of what was though a superior race.

The one time that the human race didn't experiment when a foreign object came into play. That one time they left un-human creatures be. That ONE time resulted in the absolute destruction of the selfish, vile, human race.

Mary Sues. She hated them with everything she had. They were unsettling, the perfect being. They were powerful, they were beautiful, and everybody was supposed to love them. What seemed like an unspoken alliance for years turned out to be destruction.

She remembered going to school with some of them, sitting next to some of them in class. She remembered being friends with many of them, having several of them come over for sleep overs at once. Actually, before the incident, Rant couldn't recall anytime she felt disgust for them.

It was when they all of a sudden started ignoring her because she wasn't perfect like them, all except for someone that she loved. Her girlfriend, Suzume. She loved Suzume a lot. She was perfect, with her black hair, pale skin, and color palette of blacks, pastel blues, and purples. The girl seemed like something out of a movie. Even better, she was good at everything.

Rant wouldn't describe herself as pretty. She had bleach blonde hair with a strange pink tint to it, pale skin, large orange eyes, and all of her clothes were covering all or most of her body. She didn't like being flashy, and usually she kept to herself. Suzume said that's why she loved her. She was trustworthy and brave, and it was enough for Suzume to look past.

Rant made the mistake of bringing her to her house to sleep over. When she fell asleep after several games on the internet, blood curling screams sounded through her house. Panic drove through her mind, the teenager scrambling to see if Suzume was in her room. It scared her deeply, because she wasn't there next to her. What if that had been her scream? Quickly she tried to find the source, and when she did,it horrified her.

Suzume was in her parents' tall, fully decorated room, with her baby brother in arms, blood covering her from head to toe. The bodies of her parents lay broken at her feet, blood spilling and pooling below Suzume's feet. When Rant came to realization of the event, she realized what had happened. Suzume had killed her family.

The ravenette had strutted towards Rant, who was lying on the ground in shock, about to finish her off the way that she finished the others off. Her pale skin and black hair reflected in the moonlight of the window, giving a sinister gleam in her eye. As she raised the knife and attempted to drive the said weapon through her ex-lovers heart, glass shattered and filled the room with cool night air. Rant turned her direction towards the shattered glass, and stood there was someone she had never seen before: dark blue almost black hair, tan skin, and a pale gray shirt with black lining. In her hand she held several kunai knives, ones Rant recognized from her homework about Feudal Japan.

With barely flicking her wrist, the kunai drove into Suzume's head, blood spraying all over the room. The unknown girl pulled out a larger weapon, a katana, and sliced Suzume while she was down on the ground, gurgling blood through her mouth and violently thrashing.

That was the day she met Fail, her best friend. They founded an organization together, they went on killing missions together, they owned a room together, slept together, ate together. She did everything with Fail since that day she saved her. Fail...she would die for that person. And right now, she was going to.

Fail had barely dodged the attack of the Sue before them. A Sue with Fail's dark blue hair, but tanner skin and huge boobs. A girl named Aome, one of the most dangerous Sues out there. She was strong and had many followers that would defend her mindlessly. The whole Resistance Act of Inertia, the name of the organization they made, had tagged along, but the duo insisted on fighting Aome themselves while the others fought the mindless followers Fail had appropriately named White Knights, but originally it was a joke at first. Somehow it just stuck.

"Aome!" Fail yelled angrily as she swung the katana at Aome, the other dodging it with ease. This had gone on for the past few minutes; Fail aimlessly swinging and Aome easily dodging. It was obvious no one was winning anytime soon. However, that last slash, Aome threw a kunai straight toward Fail, nailing her straight in the hand. She screamed out in severe pain, dropping her katana and holding her hand as crimson liquid flowed like water from her hand.

Rant grasped her weapon tightly, a Bec de Corbin. She had somehow immediately thought about it when Fail asked what weapon she wanted crafted. Somehow, the idea stuck, and she picked it. The hammer was very lightweight and easy to wield, unlike the tri-scythe one of the newest members had.

While Fail was down, she rushed towards her partner, hammer axe ready, about to smack Aome in the face. The crow's beak of the blade glinting in the dull sunlight as Rant jumped as high as she could to strike Aome in the face. The Sue moved at the last second, the blade edging itself into the cold concrete ground.

Rant inaudibly growled, swinging it one more and making contact with Aome's arm with the duller side. It left a large bruise in the flesh, a grunt escaping her.

"Damn, you actual got me," she snarled, pulling out more kunai. 'Is that seriously her only weapon?' Rant thought. 'Does she not have any other weapons? How was this girl dangerous, besides the fact that she's an extremely good dodger.'

Aome threw the knives at Rant's stiff body, the hammer master blocking it with the blade.

"I'm not that easy to take down," she called, holding the Bec de Corbin in place once more. Hopefully this would be enough time for Fail to recover the hand injury and continue fighting. If they could do it, maybe they could defeat Aome together, side by side. At the beginning of the fight Rant had injured her leg and Fail made her take a break, using that always optimistic line: "This Sue will be just like the rest, Rant! I swear, she'll be over in a heartbeat!"

She charged for Aome once more, Corbin ready, when Aome pulled out a long, thin stick about the size of her pointer finger. Rant knew it was a Senbon, and in her hand were multiple, possibly hundreds.

Senbons could easily kill somebody if hit with the correct pattern at certain points. They could paralyze a victim and leave the user to do as they please with the victim afterwards. Is...that how she kills them?

Rant brought up her weapon to block the attack, but she wasn't quick enough. The projectiles flew and hit her straight in the eyes, in the neck, and her lower leg. It took a moment to register the pain, but it happened. The blonde screamed in agonizing pain, falling backwards onto the ground. If it weren't for the senbon in her eyes she would be crying, but she felt as if the weapons destroyed her tear ducts. If she survived this she would surely be blind, unable to do her job anymore.

"Rant!" she heard Fail yell from a distance. She wanted to respond to her best friend, but she couldn't. The pain that was going through her body rapidly was keeping her from reacting.

Even worse, the smell of blood was coming. Rant was extremely afraid of blood, ever since Suzume. Suzume had made her afraid of it when she killed her family.

The injuries she sustained weren't enough to die, but she knew that eventually Aome would reach her. Rant loved Fail, but she knew that Fail could never be able to defeat Aome. Not ever.

With barely any conscious, she tried listening to the fight. Fail had screamed and groaned multiple times, but Rant couldn't tell what was happening. All she knew was that Fail was losing. The footsteps she made were much heavier, and her katana kept striking kunai at an attempt to get closer to the bitch who killed many people from RAI.

Rant didn't know how long it had been, but she knew that she was suffering so much she eventually lost consciousness. She didn't know what Fail was doing or what Aome was doing until the immense pain of a kunai nuzzled itself into her chest. Aome's kunai.

She awoke quickly, gasping for air like a fish out of water, starting to flop around violently as she tried to breathe properly. It had punctured her lung, filling it with blood. It hurt like nothing she had felt before. Rant screamed and screamed until she ran out of breath and died.
