everyone's got their problems; and really, despite the furry community being full of bullshit sometimes (like any other fandom out there), it's the first one that made me learn how harsh reality can be (thanks to journals lmao) bc dA's one kinda sucks
Yeah. It does seem like a lot of furries have shitty lives. I've heard things about abusive parents, abusive partners, being molested as a child, and far too many stories about being raped.
I became attracted to the fandom around the same time I started developing more frequent bouts of depression, anxiety, and manic behavior.
I also have to thank this fandom for helping me as I slowly realized I was gay. Though it's also depressing knowing that there are probably quite a few in the gay community who would bash furries because gay men can be incredibly judgmental. Or at least those who are higher up in the food chain because they're either perfect bears or perfect twinks leaving those who are around the middle in the dust, not to mention gay men who are overweight, not good-looking, or older.
Ah, yes--though I have no such experiences, I can really imagine it being kind of... difficult, and affecting people emotionally and cheering depression even further.
Rly in the end those who are good-looking (most of them at least) tend to be more focused on other good-looking ones (bc no matter what people say, appearance does, in the end, matter), until you find a real good catch that balances both or is more on the personality side.

It seems like depression is common among furries. I know I've got my problems.
