Further tails teaser by karmakat (critique requested)

“THE OTHER SIDE OF ME
By Karmakat

Most people have a secret. The most interesting part is the very different ways most people treat or live with their secrets. For some people, it's a way to appear "mysterious" and attract others. For others it's just something they don't really pay much attention to, like a part of everyday life. But for some, it's a real burden. They carry a weight so deep and heavy in their hearts that it feels like more weight than a building some days.
Here I am - coughing and bleeding on the floor, a literal building on top of me. Today was supposed to be a good day; I was supposed to spend the day with someone dear to my heart. I even had bought flowers, a gift, and made a reservation at a nice restaurant for fuck's sake. But all that was before my "second life" decided to call me for duty and cause me to end up in this situation…”

“Karma and Fate:
By Behemel

"Not a problem," Karma replied, shaking her hand while trying to be a gentleman himself. "Anyway, are you joining the free battle?"
Behemel cocked his heat at the mention of it. He blinked, not aware of the event that Karma had now shared with him. "Free battle? You mean a tournament? I knew this town was a warring city for people to show off their strength, but this is the first time I heard of this event."
Karma smiled and crossed his strong arms along his chest. "There is one every few days. From what I learned, people can register to enter mutual fights with other warriors from across the realms." the black lion explained eagerly, looking excited at the idea as he turned to the Coliseum. "People enter to compete and then the next day they are randomly sorted. It's all safe and mostly honorable save for some bad seeds, but most of the time its for trained warriors to test their mettle."
Behemel looked at the arena with mild interest. Syeena, however, smirked with mischievous intent. "You should soooo sign up Behemel," she teased him on, trying to get him to agree. "You are a good fighter."
The dark lion however was more amused to the fact Karma was one of good quality, to be confident enough to join the competition. He could only assume the gathering of warriors there were of high caliber, magic or sheer might. "You're a warrior too then. It is a pleasure to meet you then. As for joining... I am not sure," he replied, trying to ignore Syeena's teasing…”

“Inside of me part one:
By Karmakat

His first reaction was to take away his hand from me, and then give me a punch without more warnings. I took a few steps backward due to the surprise, and was holding my jaw with my hand while looking at him. God… the hate in those eyes. His eyes alone were hurting me a thousand times more than his punch. He was snarling at me, and nearly trying to make a hole through my head with those eyes. Then he took a step forward and kept on punching me for several minutes. All that time he just kept saying things like, "How dare you do this to me…. how dare you get close to people!" all those weren't even real questions but plain accusation. I couldn't stop crying as those words were hitting straight into my fears like a knife. I was bigger than him; I could fight back, or even just protect myself. But I couldn't get myself to it. To me, all he was saying was partly right, even if I never asked for that secret. A few minutes after he started punching me, he seems to realize that he was touching me again and just yelled to me "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" So I grabbed my shirt and jacket and ran away in the night, while crying my heart out. The next month after that I was like a zombie drifting through life, always avoiding contact with people around me when I still had a choice at least. I had decided to make myself a promise… never again…”

“Inside of me part two:
By Karmakat

I don’t know how many hours I walked through the city streets before I ended up just sitting on the bridge looking at the water and not moving. Through that time I sat numb, while night fell on the city. I think it was close to midnight when I felt from behind two, strong arms hold me as tight as they could while tears fell upon my shoulder. It was Casey. I had worried him again when he heard what happened at school from the Director. Casey thought that he had lost me forever as he searched for me. Now he kept on crying while holding me in his arms, telling me to swear to him that I would never disappear like that again, that if I am feeling sad or anything to just call him even if he is at work. I agreed. But how could I tell him fully how I felt inside?
As the next few weeks passed I rarely got out of our loft. The Most I ever did was to buy groceries or letting Casey drag me out for “sun and fresh air” on his days off. I tried to keep busy by doing my art, and taking care of the loft or pumping iron so I wouldn’t turn crazy. But I still refused to venture out, especially on my own. I was too scared that something else would happen. I was to the point of being worried I would lose him, too. I couldn’t help but wonder if he shouldn’t leave me for someone better, someone that wouldn’t be considered a “basket case” In a way I had lost faith in the world. The only person I wanted near me was him. But I was worried that I was wrecking him inside…”

“Born from flames:
By Wuffy

The husky was not lying. He really did not know how to dance. The electronic music was not like anything he heard before on the radio. He was lost between the loud booms of the bass and the robotic voice repeating the same words over and over.
Roman had no trouble moving his hips to the song in way that made him blend in. The husky tried following his lead but he could not match the music making his moves awkward. It was not until the song changed that he got down rhythm that could fit in with rest. He scanned the room beneath the flashing lights. Then the music paused and the lights went off. When the song picked up again, the lights did not. Glows sticks swung wildly in the blackness and the deer was lost.
Massak growled trying to shuffle forward through the furries to find him. Just as he went to take a step, a Clydesdale’s hoof stomped in front of him. Roman grinned while he ground his crotch on the husky’s abs. Snarling, Massak grabbed the horse’s waist and gave it a squeeze but Roman did not stop. He merely let out a whinny while bucking harder with his hips. In one thrust Massak was knocked off to the side and there the deer was with his antlers lit up like a neon tree, in the thick of it all. Two hooves rubbed his back to smear some of the green goo into fur. Roman winked, “You are gonna have to make it hot bud if you want to get to him.” …

“Life choices:
By Karmakat

I keep concentrating and deciding the order I need to take care of their weapons to help the team below me. Just hoping, at that point, that if we can get them alive I can get my answers at the same time. The chief of the team finally gives me the signal an hour later and I just grumble my answer before I start shooting their weapon to disable them and startle them. The last one of the six on the windows finally understand that something is happening and retreats behind a wall, so in automatic reaction I just do a rebound shot and from the scream I think I wounded him. Staying ready in case of any of them trying to pull something "bigger" to do their deed and not get caught without fighting of course. Then I hear the last hint of where I knew those symbols: their war cry…”
