Yeah firealpaca's watercolor doesn't work well with blending a color into transparent pixels, so using white was a necessity for smooth blending. Glad this was able to inspire some new techniques!!

Its weird that I use a similar method to this but never thought to use white instead of erasing, which would allow me to include some more interesting effects on that layer (Sai can handle using opacity or white) huh. Thanks for the tut! Gives me some interesting ideas to go play with in my own method
