Looking down along the the southern part of the Bright Angel Fault, you can see the areas along the trail of the 3-Mile Resthouse, the Indian Gardens along the center-left, and Plateau Point off screen in the top left corner. Doesn't look that far, no? The trek to Plateau Point and back to the top of the south rim is a 9-12 hour hike, only suggested for hikers who are well experienced and know what they're doing as it is a heavily intensive trail.
As the saying goes at the canyon, "Going down is optional, but getting out is mandatory."

yeah, even though we were looking out over the canyon all the time, it looked more like a painting than real most always.
And the shithead i call a boyfriend kept creeping up on the edge of the rim and almost giving me a heartattack constantly...the way we got around mainly was by bus transit and he gets motion sickness and vertigo easily, so having him right near the edge..yeah. It wasnt until after we visited the onsite cemetery for past rangers, family members, etc that he finally realized how easy it would be to slip up >_>;;;
