The Forest Alive by KajTaotsu

The Forest Alive

The Forest Alive

Running through these trees
Darkness begins to fall
The air chills in the evening light
Torch, sword, broken armor on hand
I ready for the evil lurking within
Shadows move, bones shake
Trees rustle, groans emanate
The forest alive with monstrous creatures
The hours come and go
Silver medallion creeping slowly across the starlit sky
I fight for my life
This dimly lit patch of hope
Through the trees come
Darkness begins to break,
Colors unfolding
Torch in hand, I run
Hills crossed, channels swam
Yonder desert, and snow
The blazing sun breaks horizon
Creatures once predator, now prey
Burn in the rays of hope.
Looming in distance, a house,
Light twinkling through windows
Footfalls bring me nearing its front
Sigh of cold breath escapes into the air
I'm home.

The Forest Alive

KajTaotsu

This freeverse poem was something that I did 4 years back for my senior year english class in high school (good lord it feels weird saying that). While it may not be the best thing in the world, it still holds a place in my heart I guess for being a favorite of mine over all these years. It's technically referencing a certain video game, which some of you may easily know depending on how you take some of the lines.

Picture is pulled from here
I do not take any credit for the photograph.
