Mango Salsa by KajTaotsu

Mango Salsa

KajTaotsu

Today was a perfect day to make salsa, but I didn't feel like making any ol' regular salsa since it was going to be part of another dish. What better way to accompany a cilantro-lime oriented dish than to add some mangoes, eh?

Dont know how, or need an easier way to get that mango meat? Check out this link.

Mango Salsa

Ingredients:

  • 2 ripe mangos, peeled, pitted, and diced (about 1.5 cup)
  • 1/2 medium red onion, finely chopped (Or 1/4 of a large red. Wanting ~1/2 - 1 cup of onion)
  • 1 fresno or red chili pepper, minced (If you want it warmer, keep the seeds and ribs in)
  • 1 jalapeno, minced (same as the fresno/red chili)
  • 3 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 3 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • dash of black pepper

Direction:
1. Prepare all ingredients and combine in a bowl.
2. Let the mixture sit for about 5-10 minutes to marinate in its juices and flavors.

Enjoy!

This gets better as it sits because all of the flavors blend together, so if one chooses to make this for a party or something, make it ahead of time! Eaten alone or with something else, this salsa will hit the spot sweetly at first, and end with a kick!

Here's a recipe that implements this into it: Cilantro Lime Tilapia & Shrimp

Would this work if I replaced the mangos with peaches or apricot. I'm allergic to mangos. hugs

I don't see why it wouldn't with those still being soft and sweet. Might have to cut back on some of the cilantro, but I feel that might all be what would need swapped
