Spiced Apple n Chocolate Pull Apart

KajTaotsu

A long while back, actually about a year ago, I found a recipe for a garlic cheese bread pull-apart and made it for a friends birthday party. With great success with everyone's enjoyment of it, about a week later, my friend Darroh pops the idea of making a dessert version of the bread, and with swapping ideas and such, thought up something new. Fast forward about a year, a month back from now basically, and I finally have the time and wanting effort to try it out. It surprisingly only took two trials before getting to what I'm posting now, and I'm really proud of how it turned out <3

Spiced Apple n Chocolate Pull Apart

Ingredients:

  • 4oz unsalted butter (half a stick), quartered
  • 3/4 large GrannySmith apple, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp apple pie spice
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup pecans, crushed/finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 can Pillsbury Grands "Homestyle Butter Tastin' "

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350*F. Place the quartered half-stick of butter in a pan and let it sit in the preheating oven to melt for a couple minutes (don't want the butter to burn or evaporate off!). When butter is melted, pull the pan out and set to the side.
2. If you haven't already, peel and chop the apple, placing the pieces used into a medium-large sized bowl. Add in the spices, sugar, nuts, and chocolate chips into the bowl. Mix the ingredients together to evenly coat the apple pieces with sugar and spices
3. Quarter each biscuit and toss into the mix. Again, mix the ingredients to evenly coat the biscuit quarters in ingredients (May have to get your hands into it instead of a spatula or whatnot to get all the pieces to be coated well, they like to stick to each other instead. Make sure to wash your hands beforehand!)
4. Transfer the biscuit mixture into the bundt pan, sprinkling in the excess chocolate and apple bits as you go to evenly distribute it throughout the bread.
5. Place the bundt pan into the oven and let the bread bake for about 22-24 minutes until golden-brown in color. When ready, pull the pan out and let it cool for about 3 minutes. Carefully with the backside of a knife, go along the outer and inner edges of the bread to help ease it away from the pan and flip over onto a serving platter.

This is a really easy and cheap dessert to make that can easily serve 5-6 people. The handful of times I've made this for friends and/or family, it's always ended up to be a crowd pleaser, even getting the approval from a man that doesn't like the texture of most fruits and veggies!

Also! What better to do with the small bit of apple that's left over? If you haven't chopped it up, melt a bit of extra chocolate chips in the microwave and dip them in it while waiting for the full product to be baked. Or if you don't/can't do that, just enjoy a bit of crisp, fresh grannysmith apple.

        -drools-

I made it tonight. Left off the pecans (I'm not a fan of nuts) and switched the white choc chips with equal of mini semisweet chocolate chips because hubby only likes milk chocolate.

It was goooood. Certainly one that temps ya to eat it all at once! :)
