Shackleborn wretches born into seemingly-insurmountable poverty in the sodden, pirate-ridden coast of Garund, a pair of gnollish twins managed to beat the odds and escape their fate, earning themselves an invitation to the magical Magaambya academy.

While Brother was incredibly eager to prove himself a capable and trustworthy member of the academy, Sister had grow cold and bitter from the traumas their upbringing had carved in her heart, many of which she had shielded brother from, one way or another. She sought only power so that she could protect herself, and him by extension, and in doing so uncovered a strange ritual.

Tricking her brother into participating in the ritual with her by disguising it as a preparatory rite to become one of Old Mage Jatembe's ten magic warriors, the two ended up surrendering their names to an entity from beyond in exchange for its patronage.  

That's the last thing they remember before they woke up in The Facility, at least. Now bereft of both name and freedom, the two soon discovered they had fused together into a single, shared body - just another experiment amongst The Soulturned that were interred in the facility.
