The Other Woman by Kaeilia

Jenny stumbled home that night in a state of shock. It even took her a few minutes to think to call a cab. Even after she'd entered her home and was lying in bed, the incident burned in her mind.

Every time she closed her eyes, she could see the black puddle on the side of the street. She saw the burgundy splatter of what could only have been blood on Roo's clothing that was only visible because of the glow of the clubs pink and blue lights.

She could see the angry face of the woman who had attacked him for no reason. Jenny shuddered, remembering the feeling of Roo being pulled away from her and she let out a little sob. It might have been her. She didn't sleep that night and spoke little the next day. It wasn't until that evening, as her roommate listened to the news, that things began to unravel completely.

The news detailed a horrible murder. They talked about Anna Rhinehart attacking her ex-boyfriend with a shoe. It told of a child they had together and Jenny began to cry. Her and Roo had been together for three months, but she'd never heard of this Anna. How could this woman have attacked him? She'd once been with him, she must know how sweet he was.

Jenny lumbered up the stairs, feeling sick to her stomach. The last thing she heard was her roommate muttering in frustration at how lucky the woman had been to find size 12 heels.
