Tongue-tied

Jye

Drawn in 2013.

"Sometimes it feels like my tongue is tied tight with string. The cables between my tongue and brain are tangled. Like something has been cut and the brain-mouth link has been severed. My brain is busy. It is fast and stumbles. It is an endless frustration. My mouth will always be slower than my brain. It cannot keep up. And so my speech stumbles and falters. This makes things worse. The more frustrated I get, the faster my brain runs and the less my mouth can keep up. The same is true when I'm happy. The more animated I get, the faster my speech becomes, and incomprehensibility rises. My desire to communicate is too great. It's cruel. The more I want to communicate, the harder it is to do so. If only, if only."

Experimental doodle expressing my frustration/difficulties with talking. I talk very fast normally, because my brain runs at lightning speed and is usually quite busy, so I'm in a rush to get the words out and move on to the next thing.

I think I like drawing/crafts so much because focusing on something so physical calms my brain and lets it slow down for a while.

I was going to try and do something fancy with the text, either trying to write it nicely or use some sort of font, but I felt my natural handwriting made the most sense. It's not usually quite this messy, but it's also not very neat either.
