Commentary:
Okay now it's cleared up a bit as to what's going on, but Cane's story might seem to be a bit incomplete. For example, you might be wondering why he's even doing this in the first place.

This "she" is someone who wouldn't be important immediately, it's just something I needed to set up later and it wouldn't make sense for Shoro to NOT allude to her. Needless to say, whoever she is, she also wanted to leave the group of thieves like Mako.

Lopu seemed to pick things up pretty quickly. Hopefully it's seems reasonable for him to put 2 and 2 together so quickly. If not, then the next page is already going to explain how Lopu figured it out so quickly.
