Oh my, this one took me forever!

I've found these three gorgeous candle holders in a shop and I just had to make something out of it. The idea of a ferret entangled in a chain f lights was stuck in my mind and had to get out. ^^ The chain of lights is made of translucent polymer clay and I'm very proud of it. My husband helped me with a wire skeleton for the pretty huge (for a miniature model) christmas tree :3

I used a slightly similar modelling technique as I use when working with Super Sculpey. It is a bit different though, because FIMO (the kind of polymer clay I use more often) doesn't have such a good smudge factor like Super Sculpey and it's more brittle while it's less dimensionally stable. So it makes it way harder to smudge the transitions of the different clay parts and to give the clay a furry texture.

But I like the fact that FIMO comes in different colours and doesn't have to be painted, yet sealed with varnish. I think this gives this little sculptures kind of their own congeniality and it supports a toony and cute character best.
