Octransfur Day 8: Tiny Camp [Fairy Dragon TF] by Joat

Mary was walking through the forest, taking in the sights. It was the perfect day for a walk, she felt. It was sunny and cool, while the leaves were just starting to turn to their various autumn hues. With it being so nice out, she was not surprised at all to see someone had set up a tent in the forest. It did, however, surprise her that the tent was no bigger than her shoe.

She knelt down to take a closer look. It was unmistakably a triangular tent, made from woven-together cloth scraps and sticks. In front of it was a miniature wooden bowl with a few blueberries, while next to the tent was a pretty little green gem.

Curious, Mary picked up the gem, taking a closer look at it. She was so distracted that she didn’t notice the inhabitants of the tent, two cute strangely-colored little rats with butterfly wings and antennae, poke their heads out of the tent, gazing up at her. Nor did she notice when they started waving their forepaws, weaving some mischievous magic. She did, however, notice when her mouth and nose started pushing forward, reshaping themselves into a long muzzle covered in shimmering purple scales.

She quickly dropped the gem, taking a step back in surprise. She started to lift up her hands to feel her new muzzle, only to discover that now those hands were covered in purple scales as well, her fingernails now claws and the shape of her hands now somewhat akin to forepaws.

Her arms were being overtaken by purple scales as she felt her face with her forepaws, finding that it was entirely covered in purple scales. She felt as her hair quickly receded before vanishing entirely, revealing more purple scales underneath. Soon the rest of her arms and head were entirely covered in scales, her head significantly reshaping itself to a more draconic shape. She no longer had visible ears, but instead two purple antennae atop her head.

She stood admiring her new scales for a moment. She was not scared of what was happening to her, but rather in awe. She was so pretty! But after a bit, she came to a realization: Her clothes were feeling rather loose.

Just as she was starting to think that, she felt her pants fall down around her ankles. She looked down to see that her legs were thicker and more animal-like, also covered in purple scales. She lifted up her feet out of her now-too-large footwear and pants, revealing that she now had cute draconic purple hind paws.

She lifted her shirt over her head, taking it off to reveal that her torso was now covered in purple scales as well, along with pink scales on her front. She watched as a scaly tail slowly started growing behind her, starting to swish the tail behind her once it was long enough. Then, she felt herself starting to grow a beautiful pair of pink butterfly wings, which shimmered as they moved.

Her transformation was complete. Her discarded clothing was now massive compared to her. She was barely larger than a rat. But she was content. She took flight, sparkles of light trailing behind her as she tested out her new wings, enjoying her new, cute form. Then after a bit, she looked down, seeing two butterfly-winged rats, one green and one blue, beckoning for her to join them in their tent.

Octransfur Day 8: Tiny Camp [Fairy Dragon TF]

Joat

The theme for this day was Camp, and here we have returning characters (aside from my friends) from last year's Octransfur. Looking back, this is actually my third fairy dragon TF written. I apparently really like them.

This was not my first idea for the prompt. The original idea was a camp for familiars, which a human character would attend in hopes of learning what it was like to be a familiar and, if it sounded appealing, becoming one herself. I rather liked the idea, but I had to scrap it for three reasons: Time (I was running late on Octransfur stuff), effort (I was writing two other OTF stories that day and simply didn't have the creative stamina left to do the idea justice), and setting (Much as I liked the general idea, I didn't quite feel like a camp was the best setting for it). That said, if this idea sounds appealing to you, don't worry: I will very likely be doing it at some point down the line, perhaps even during Octransfur if I get my act together regarding scheduling.

Speaking of the idea noted above, it's certainly a lot closer to what CrizBN did than what I ended up going with. Both his idea and my first idea involve someone going to a camp for X type of creature and being transformed into it. With the idea I went with, it was just the protagonist stumbling upon rats camping out. And the TF isn't actually related to the camp, so... yeah, depending on how you look at it, the idea I went with fulfills the given prompt in the same way that a sugar-loaded breakfast cereal is "part of this balanced breakfast".
