Fairy Dust [Fairy TF/TG/MC] by Joat

For the first time since Link had begun his quest, things finally felt peaceful again. Ganon had been sealed away, Princess Zelda had been rescued, and the monsters which threatened Hyrule - at least, those that he had not slain - had gone back into hiding. It was time for Link to make his triumphant return home. But although he was mostly happy, a part of him was not, because ultimately he would never be able to return to the life he once knew.

It was not for lack of a home to come back to. Moblins had attempted to destroy his village, but with his great resourcefulness he was able to prevent a single one from entering. The problem wasn’t in some failure, great or small, to save the world from destruction. Rather, it was that he had saved the world... and everybody knew it. He wanted to return to his normal life, but he knew that being famed as a legendary hero would make that difficult to fully achieve, if not impossible. Not that he could blame people for idolizing him after all he’d done, but he didn’t particularly care for a life in the limelight. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the future for him.

His mind was so occupied by this idea that he nearly failed to notice an ornate treasure chest sitting half-buried next to a tree. But he didn’t miss it, as he had become quite adept at spotting treasure chests over the course of his adventure. In theory, he didn’t need to open this one. He didn’t need more gear to adventure with, as his adventure was over, and by this point he had enough rupees to live the rest of his life in wealth and luxury if he so chose. And yet, simple curiosity drove him to open the box regardless.

What he found in the box was... nothing. Perhaps someone had claimed this treasure years ago and closed it back when they were done. Whatever the case, all that remained in the box was dust. To be fair, it looked to be some sort of exotic dust, shimmering beautifully in the light of the setting sun, but in the end, it was still dust, which came up out of the box in a small cloud after he opened it. And so, after a short sneezing fit, Link left the treasure box behind and continued on his way.

A waste of time, perhaps, but Link could not be too upset. He was in no hurry, after all, and a minor waste of time was still preferable to being in mortal peril. As he continued walking, he glanced toward the sword on his belt. It was the sword with which he had begun his quest. A downgrade from the Master Sword, perhaps, but that did not bother him. He was glad to no longer need the Master Sword, content to let the sword rest in its forest home. He hoped not to need any sword ever again. A wand suited him just fine.

Link shook his head. A wand? Why was he thinking of a wand? At no point during his quest did he come across a wand. And yet, it felt like he had one, like it was natural to have one. In fact, why did he ever think he had or needed a sword? He looked again at his belt, confirming that the wand was still there, no sword in sight.

Link continued walking along, but that began to feel odd to him. Why was he walking a long distance like that? That seemed like a rather slow and boring way to travel. And so, he gave his wings a couple of test flaps, then rose into the air. A small, dwindling part of him knew that he didn't have wings a moment ago, but the rest of him dismissed that as a silly fantasy. How strange it would be to have to go without wings, to travel along the ground!

She much preferred to glide through the air. It felt much easier and more free this way. Not to mention, the view was much better from here. After all, a fairy did not have much of a view from the ground, being so small, though admittedly she felt unusually large, but that feeling was fading as her body adjusted to match the tiny size she knew she was supposed to be.

Linn found herself surrounded by sparkles as she flew. It was quite pretty, and the greenish-white sparkles were quite a good complement to her little green dress. She continued flying amidst the trees, feeling the wind through her long yellow hair. She had a distant feeling like she had been worried about something before, but she couldn't remember anything like that. She had nothing to worry about, after all. She could simply enjoy flying free amidst the trees of the forest, not a care in the world.

This is a request for Megaman4567 on DeviantArt. This story is not based on the events of any specific Legend of Zelda game.

I would say this will be the last request until Octransfur 2020 concludes, but I am not entirely sane, so I may do requests alongside it nonetheless. I would also say that this particular TF story is nothing to sneeze at, but Link literally sneezed at it, so I don't even know what to think anymore.
