Southern Sisters Profile

Betrothed to the Crowned Prince of the Ndona Pride, Sarabi brought her sisters with her across the plains. As daughters of the Prince of the Kusini Pride, they had no future in their own pride. Betrothing their daughter to Prince Mufasa bought their daughters a better life. At three years of age, the sisters were escorted to their new Pride.

Sarabi was the second oldest of the littermates. Even at three years of age, she was wise beyond her years. Taking after her mother, Sarabi shows signs of being a Southern lioness, including her curved muzzle, broad shoulders, and ear rims. Her fur is dark beige, with a lighter underbelly and paws. She shares her father's orange eyes. Loyal to her mate, Sarabi only bore one cub, Simba, during her sixth year of age, to King Mufasa. After the death of her mate and son, she served loyaly under Queen Sarafina until her death. During Scar's madness, she kept the lionesses together and alive.

Naanda is the eldest of the four littermates. Leaner than her sisters, Naanda's Southern features are dulled by her grandmother's Jangwa genes, but even with her scruffy ears and head her large paws and curved muzzle display her birth pride. Her fur is orange cream, with a lighter underbelly and paws. She also has a distinct upper ear rim not shared by her sisters. Her eyes are the Southern orange. She accompanied her sister Sarabi to the Ndona Pride at three years of age and became one of the best huntresses in Mufasa's pride. She bore two cubs, Tojo to King Mufasa and Zira to Prince Taka called Scar. During Scar's reign, her son was exiled and she became very close to her daughter Zira. She mourned many weeks when Zira was exiled, but stayed with Sarabi.

Dwala is the youngest of her littermates. Although her fur is darker than most of her birth pride's, everything from her ear rims to her large paws mark her as a Kusini lioness. Her fur is dark brown with light cream underbelly and paws and darker ear rims. In her youth, she was a confident and happy lioness, although a poor hunter. After accompanying her sisters to the Ndona Pride, she bore two cubs to Prince Taka called Scar, Kula and Kosa. She raised her cubs faithfully, but after the death of Queen Sarafina, she became very distant and disdainful of all of her pridemates save Sarabi. Although a poor hunter, she was known for her ability to catch small prey during the drought.

Diku was often called the most lovely of the four sisters. Desired even in her own pride, her parents chose to betroth Sarabi rather than her to Price Mufasa due to Diku's childish nature. Although she bears the curved muzzle and ear rims of the Kusini pride, her pale fur and blue eyes are extremely rare in the Southern lands. After joining the Ndona pride with her sister Sarabi, she took King Kwanza of the Mbala Pride as a mate and bore him two cubs, Mtoto and a daughter. Although she was never overly friendly with the Ndona afterward, she encouraged her cubs to accompany their father and play with Simba. During the drought, the Mbala ventured into the swamps to find prey and stay away from the hyena on their border.
