Trade - The Fine Print

"Looking for something?"

A trade with the really cool and talented spixpanda

They wanted to do a Halloween badge trade, and I jumped all over yandere!librarian Spix for so many reasons. I got really carried away with this, and it still didn't come out how I intended, but I think it looks cool!! I wanted to try for more dramatic lighting (backlit) and even though it's not 100% as dark as I'd like, this is the best I've done yet.

Materials: Copic multiliners, Sakura gel pens, Prismacolor markers, a smidge of white colored pencil, some clever xacto knife cutting, themed paper and stickers

omg I just realized the glasses are shaped like coffins.

It was a concept that came to me while I was sketching, and I HAD to put it in!! I'm glad you noticed!! :)

Cool things in this picture that I appreciate:

Tiny bit of frosting on the glass of the coffin glasses
Crazy eyes and crooked sneer mouth
Taking the time to draw all the bones
    The mouse skull looks amazing
Super beautiful gemstones with color variety
    Those teeth
    3D stickers??
Where did you get that paper

Thank you so much for making this, I really love it! This is the most detailed badge I think I'll ever own, too. It'll be awesome to take this to cons and watch people pick over all the cool details ^^

Gosh, THANKS!!! This comment really fills me with glee. I'm so glad you noticed all the detail I put in! I got a little too crazy with it, but, I was so excited I couldn't stop. Yup, those are 3D stickers I've had forever and I've NEVER USED ANY. I didn't have an opportunity until now, so thanks for giving me one! The paper is from a small pack of cardstock I bought a year or so ago from Michael's, maybe longer?? It's by the brand Recollections if that helps :) I always thought that sheet in it would be useless, but with your love of books, it turns out that it's perfect! I'm really happy you noticed the reflection on the glasses, too. They looked like they didn't have lenses, so I thought that bit of extra would make them look more lifelike. And I really like the idea that the gems aren't just pretty, but some kind of weird hypnotic/paralytic item that freezes people in place when she catches them snooping in her private journal.

I look forward to sending this in the mail when I can! Soon, hopefully. And be warned; it's HUGE!! About 5 1/2" by 7" to be exact, so it's like badge armor. Thanks again for your really nice comment! It was a blast to work on, I always have fun trading with you.

Oh, I know Recollections! I used to work at a Michael's, and we got a ton of their product. I have several sheets myself, hee. I was wondering if this badge was going to be big, or if you magically got really good at making very tiny details with like a fine-tip marker and a magnifying glass, ha ha. I'm laminating your badge now, but I think I lost your address from the last time you gave it to me :u So if you wanna text it to me or whatever, go for it when you get the chance. Thank you so much for this! It'll be my art-bag badge, I think :3

Okay but the skull accent and the stone in her ascot tho. And I'll say the same thing I always say when I see Ms. Spixy: 10/10, would let stamp.

I really love drawing and coloring bones! I just never get the opportunity to do so, haha. Thanks a bunch! I have lots of fun doing shiny/marbled things, too. I'm glad it shows. It's really easy to pull off with markers.
