Though preferring small game such as voles (interspersed with honey, eggs, insects, and similar small-predator fare), a little-known fact about the pine marten is that they also enjoy properly seasoned shisha when the opportunity arises. Scientists suspect the molasses base in many shisha blends is what attracts the martens' sensitive noses, though thus far studies are inconclusive.
