It’s electric!

Felt like doing some color experimentation/practice, and it seems to have worked okay. I’d wanted to draw a blue dragon for a while, and I’ve always liked the look of creatures with smoke or vapor coming from their mouths, so why not have it breathing storm clouds? This critter didn’t have any penciling scanned in to serve as a base; everything was sketched directly into MS5 and just sort of diddled with indefinitely until I was satisfied.

This was the first time I’ve tried that particular glow effect seen on the lightning. Not too bad! I’m also glad I thought to make a separate layer for the scales since they really added a lot of depth and character to the picture. I am still not that great at painting, but it makes me happy knowing I’ve gotten this far already.

Nonzero chance i might revisit this pose with inks, it’s just so fun to work with.
