Day 8 of Jurassic June is represented by Troodon, a carnivorous dinosaur from the Cretaceous period of North America. One of the reasons why I like Troodon is not just its name--"wounding tooth"--its intelligence, and its opposable digits, but because in the 90s it was speculated to have evolved into a human like creature called the Dinosauroid if it had not gone extinct at the end of the Cretaceous. This idea was put forward by the paleontologist Dale Russell. Whenever I think of Troodon, I conjure up the Dinosauroid, and a bright green and yellow model of the actual animal...thus the color scheme for Troodon.
