Meet the K9s!pet feral draft final 1

How2101

  1. Basic description: La-tech K9 buddies (K9s for short)

These cute, largely canine creatures have been created with the purpose of providing a one-on-one relationship with guests, both through companionship as well as providing any assistance one might need.

Biology: one notable common feature with K9s is that the latex at the tip of their tails, unlike the rubber coating most of their body, is semisolid - able to become a slick, sticky liquid in seconds. Their tails are filled with rubbery fluid that can be used to catch, restrain, or transform unruly or "disobedient" guests - while most commonly excreted through the liquid tip of the tail, other methods of discharge include the mouth, paws/claws, and collars, as well as leaking from the skin.

  2. K9s can be lumped into 2 general categories: masked and maskless.

Maskless: Give a howdy to your new best friend and personal assistant!

Semi-independent, intelligent canine species (though those resembling other species may be produced later on), their tech-infused rubber bodies give them many abilities, such as access to the massive how parks database and the ability to perform useful functions for their guests, like ordering room service, opening doors using the keypads embedded in their specialized, molded boots, or buying tickets for park events online. They can even serve as a wifi hotspot! Maskless K9s can also be used to watch children or babysit, providing monitoring and protection to children placed in their care. They have several default patterns, but can be custom-ordred in any color combination a guest could want!

The K9s are made to satisfy the guest - though they can be easily switched to exclusively obey commands from How Park's administration staff at the expense of the guest - for example, if How Parks happens to need a guest to mysteriously dissappear for "research reasons". Howver, rare cases occur where a bond between a K9 and a guest causes an intelligent K9 to go rogue (see rogue K9s).

  3. Masked:

Initially identical to the maskless, adding a specially made latex mask to a K9 reduces it from an intelligent aid to your basic, feral canine pet - unable to speak other than with basic canine noises, as well as losing any abilities and most higher intelligence. These pets are for guests who prefer simple companionship over all the bells and whistles of the maskless version - or perhaps who (mistakenly) distrust the ever-watching, ever recording gaze of their maskless K9.

Beyond simply assisting guests, masked K9s also wander the parks freely, interacting with guests and helping to provide a fun, relaxing atmosphere through petting and cuddles. They also have value as guard dogs and personal pets for upper-level staff and wealthy clients.

one curious side effect has been noticed among masked K9s - while putting and taking off a mask has no adverse effects on the overall intelligence or "free will" of a K9, wearing a mask for too long will result in the mask fusing to the face, irreversibly and permanently reducing the K9 to a feral, animalistic state of varying intelligence and aggression.

These have been dubbed "rogue K9s".

While some are able to be controlled and tamed to some degree, being put to use as security protection, and some are relatively harmless, a disturbing portion of them have truly gone rouge - not responding to any commands and attacking both guests and park staff alike.

  4. These rogue K9s can evolve and change themselves over time as they slowly become more and more disconnected from how park control - and by proxy their natural canine forms - and while many still remain close to their original design, developing only minor changes, some can develop their own personalities, body traits, or even change species altogether - those these cases are rare and only after an extended period of time.

Rogue K9s can even develop high intelligence or partially remember past selves - though luckily, this is also exceedingly rare. It's also possible that a defective or rebellious maskless K9 can break from control while retaining intelligence. These are exceedingly dangerous - and must be sedated and captured for reprogramming immeadiately.

  5. Rogue K9s can either be alone or band together in packs, swarming unlucky individuals in an attempt to add to their numbers.
While fortunately park efforts towards neutralization have been successful in keeping them out of public areas and overwhelming the park entirely, they still roam within the shadows, alleyways, and forested territory surrounding the parks, ever seeking unsuspecting victims.

Common differences between rogue K9s and ordinary masked K9s can include:

    • features that look more realistic than their masked counterparts - such as latex fur, scruffy, uneven, or thick latex 'fur',
    • masks that appear fused or blended into the surrounding skin - mask features that move - such as eyes, mouth, or ears - travelling in packs without an overseeing how parks employee - odd, uncommon, or weird design patterns - aggressive behavior - not responding to commands, especially from How parks employees

If you see a rogue K9, report it to the nearest How Parks Staff immeadiately.

New character design for How Parks - the La-tech K9s! I hope you enjoy them!
