Ana and Horatio (original sketch by Jamarrie Millery on Twitter)

Horatio and Ana were characters that were once made for the My Candy Love fandom back when I was a part of it. I left of February 2013 out of anger due to my character surprisingly being a homophobic creep. Funnily enough I drew these guys more than the actual canon characters of that particular series of games. These guys eventually aged up (at least Horatio did) because it would be weird if a kid that wasn't Chiyo-Chan was surrounded by kids older than them that made unfunny lewd jokes. (Horatio was 14. Now he's 18.)

LORE:

Horatio is a prince. The only prince of a kingdom in the South Pacific that was colonized by Belgian, Italian, and French scholars that were hoping to find a place where they could be free from Inquisition persecutions. These scholars happened to formerly be noblemen: Dukes, Duchesses, Viscounts, Barons, Baronesses... though through marrying native tribes and being able to study astronomy and biology free of any troubles, still being able to scrutinize the Bible without being killed or arrested, they eventually became one of the more sheltered monarchies out of all in the world, being so focused in studies that they have no time for public relations. This is the reason why most of the time, this small kingdom is off of any world maps in this universe and why they aren't even considered a nation yet. Horatio however despite being the only child is already the black sheep of the noble Aragon family.

Horatio, according to his father should have known Algebra by the time he was three years old, like all noble princes. However, while his intellect has been considered sub-par in his kingdom, he would be considered a boy genius still in America, where even at 18, he would have been able to pass exams and essays that would have given him a doctorate. But Horatio isn't that kind of kid. He is more enamored with fairy tales and passionate romance novels where the handsome prince takes a fair maiden's hand and carries her into a glorious sunset. He has become a narcissist more focused on his physical looks than his actual studies. This has angered his father and has made him consider publicly executing him for ruining the kingdom's reputation as a scholarly bunch that cares little about the outside world as long as they don't tamper with them.

When Boxer and Atif decided to vacation in Eternius for a short period of time, they encountered Horatio and begrudgingly accompanied him on his 18th Birthday where he would be ready to train to become the future king of his people. It didn't take long for Horatio to realize his father did indeed have a social life before marrying the Queen and it lead to a rivalry that ended with a vengeful assassin. While his father hit the books, this assassin studied the blade. And this assassin was in love with the Queen so much he initially was planning to quickly kill Horatio. However, Horatio showed more of his mother's traits than his father's and this made the assassin decide that a slower painful death where he heard his cries in agony were more pleasurable. Horatio was going to be assassinated had it not been for Boxer and Atif as well as a mysterious figure that was just now decided it was time to protect him from the dangers he would inflict on himself.

Meet Anastasia Nadia Auroras, or Ana for short. Ana is also a rich girl with a lot of time on her hands. She also happens to be a descendant of an angel and because of that, Ana has shapeshifting powers. She can morph into anything she wants provided she has at most a day to keep that form. She has mostly taken the form of a skater boy at this point and often watched over Horatio when she visited Eternius. (NOTE: All angels and demons in the human world often have stalker-like tendencies. Ana naturally had those tendencies thanks to her angel-based instincts.) Ana was able to save Horatio from the assassin only to reveal she was also his stalker.

Horatio however didn't seem to care all that much, relieved Ana's intentions were at least good. He does however want Ana to keep staying by his side when his father decided to finally let him leave for America to become Eternius' first 'Ambassador'. Horatio obliged, knowing not just because his father finally admitted to wanting him out of the picture for a while (not like he cared, Eternius made him quite a lonely melancholic person more often than not) but because Horatio finally got to explore rather than learn about America via from textbooks and encyclopedias.

Horatio proved to be quite an astounding fencer, being able to charge head first into combat when he has a rapier in hand. Though, he is graceful, sometimes his speed isn't his friend and he could easily get hit by blunt objects. Though Horatio and Ana are a couple, Horatio often makes advances at others by flirting (though he hasn't gone any further than that due to knowing Ana might not agree with who he shows interest in.)

Ana on the other hand is great with melee and ranged attacks, not just from shapeshifting but from her training with her older brother who warned her that someday people will try to kill them for being descendants of actually holy beings and they would do it because they disagree with them. Ana often prepares for the day humans will try to kill them both but for now she is on friendly terms with almost everyone. Because she is half-Angel, no one seems to know what Ana's voice is truly like as she never speaks openly in front of anyone. The only one that seems to know what she sounds like is Horatio, and even then Horatio dodges the question when people ask. This often leads to people observing Ana when she shows cards and signs that express how she is feeling or what she is thinking about, though people still try to imagine what those sound like coming from her mouth directly.
