What remains... by HoneyHusky

What remains...

HoneyHusky

What remains..

What remains?
After unending loved bloomed,
and flourished in my heart,
But withered away in neglect.

What remains?
Of our strength to keep going,
As the flame begins to flicker,
And the light dims out of life.

What remains?
When my body lays still,
My wings bleeding and clipped,
A shattered soul and heart.

What remains?
Still vivid in the void,
A light that shines pale,
As instinct takes over.

A call from the wild,
That revives my bones.
Rekindles the soul,
As I move forward again.

And I ask myself, one final time.

What remains?
My old tracks in the earth,
Reflections in the mist,
Murmurs in the shade.

Only the wind still follows.
A flurry behind me.
Only a whisper of the past.

Is all that remains.

Amazing artwork by Tidmatiger 2015 and complementary poetry by Loxeze.
