a song by a stupid character
I'm litterally one of the most Pro-human people out there. But I still dont understand this sort of thing. There are people out there that say they're not male or female, and those who say they're male one day, and then decide to be female the next. To me, it's like they just can't make up their mind. To be fair, I've never had anyone like such explain it to me.
Well, for one, saying someone "just can't make up their mind" about their identity is a little rude. It's actually pretty damn rude, since it makes out that they don't have as good an idea of their identity as some random Joe does. It makes them out to be childish for that they really, honestly, truly are. They know who they are best, and some days who they are may be a little different than who they are tomorrow or yesterday. Like most people. Just because it's outside of one's experience doesn't make it childish, wrong, or "indecisive."
That aside, they also are under no obligation to explain it to you. A lot of people don't want to; I know I don't usually have the energy to explain my gender and all the terms therein to everyone who feels the need to challenge me on it. All most anyone needs to do is google "genderfluid" or "gender neutral" as a start and you'll get plenty, plenty of people who do have the energy to explain it writing many, many articles on it and their experiences with it.
I hate being an ass and saying stuff that offends people. That's why explanations are good. But I guess I see where your coming from. In all honesty its new to me. I've always known of the LGBT com, and supported it. It's just that this specific thing is really new to my ears, as Ive only heard two cases in the last year. Not knowing something is fine is what makes most anti-gay peeps do what they do. ish.
You're right, but it gets sticky when you assume you have a right to be explained to, and that anyone in their situation is obligated to explain themselves and their identity to you. Not everyone's cut out to be a teacher and it shouldn't be expected of everyone. For example, I'm not cut out for it, so of course I get a little uncomfortable when people expect me to answer questions far out of my comfort zone.
There's a ton, a ton, of people with these identities and the numbers are growing as those who are cut out to be teachers talk about their experiences and explain what their identity means to them. I wouldn't say it's new, but I would say the sheer level of vocal members is new. There's plenty of resources both for people of these identities and those wishing to learn more already available if you go poking around.
