From today's Worldbuilding Wednesday, in which I was asked to do a bit of a blurb about my character Friends:

Friends puts on a remarkably well-adapted front for someone who has been through what she has. She watched a parent die, and had to watch the remaining figure descend into depressive abuse, all the while taking care of what family she had around her. She is the textbook older sibling in an abusive household.

She still carries around quite a bit of guilt for what happened, and her inability to sufficiently protect or alter things. Her nights are sometimes sleepless, but she fills her days with a natural shoulders-high self-assurance that is either infectious or intimidating. When not brooding, she logically knows she’s done the best she possibly could and is more than okay with that. She is proud of herself and only wishes her sister could be too.

That said, she does have a bit of a short temper, especially when it comes to things outside of her experience and flights of fancy. She tends to hold the “I did it, so you can too, if you’d get off your ass” mentality, though of course she means this in the “you can do it, I believe in you” kind of way. She’s pushy because she thinks this is the best way to get through to people who otherwise seem hopeless, though sometimes she gets carried away with herself.
