When I heard that my friend Dafydd was being elevated to the Order of the Pelican (Society for Creative Anachronism), I contacted the Tyger Signet to see if anyone had been assigned his scroll yet. Before I knew it, I was assigned right away to do the illumination!

This piece is based from a page in The Luttrell Psalter: http://www.bl.uk/manuscripts/Viewer.aspx?ref=add_ms_42130_f215r It has a likeness of him at the bottom of the page, tending to his bees and beehives, as well as a bunny or two in there, as he likes rabbits (one of them is waiting for him to make some mead out of that honey!) The illumination also features his device (coat of arms).

To be honest, I think this is my best illumination to date, and I'm very proud of how well it turned out :) I'm also very happy that Dafydd loves the scroll :)
