The Baron's Scroll by HollyAnn

The Baron's Scroll

HollyAnn

This is a scroll that was made specifically for Baron Jehan de Lac, who was the Baron of Carolingia and was stepping down as Baron. He's always spoke kindly of The Five Shires (the five shires in my neck of the woods) so this was a gift scroll to him, on behalf of the people of the Five Shires: Shire of Northern Outpost, Shire of Coldwood, Shire of Glenn Linn, Shire of Mountain Freehold (my home shire), and Shire of Panther Vale.

His portrait is in the capital L at the top of the scroll, and the illumination also features coat of arms of all five shires. The illumination itself was based from a page from the Ornesby Psalter, along with some improving with little critters and hybrids here and there, to reflect the Five Shires (such as Freehold's kelpie/water horse, Coldwood's white bear, and Panther Vale's medieval panther).

11x14" 140 hotpress watercolour paper, ink, gouache, and 23.75k genuine gold leaf.
