Mountain Poutine

Hey guys! Welcome to the newly archived home of my short-lived webcomic, Mountain Poutine.

I originally created it because I wanted to inspire myself to keep drawing on a regular basis, and what better way to do that, then to do a comic that needs updating on a weekly basis? On top of that, it was also a great way to get some of my stories out there. The comic features my own fursona, HollyAnn, and her husband Trinsic, and later on, their pet gryphon, Clax.

How Mountain Poutine got it's name – it's a bit of a mix from where I come from (Canada) and where I live now (Vermont). Mountain, coming from the Green Mountain state, and Poutine, being my favourite Canadian fast-food (fries with gravy and cheddar cheese curds, yum!)

For a while, Mountain Poutine was featured on Furtopia.org, and the comic was updated once a week (usually a Monday). For a short period of time, I tried updating twice a week, but that proved to be too much for me to handle.

While popular among many readers, I just couldn't keep up with the demand of the webcomic, and after nearly 2 years of making the comic, I stopped it. It took a lot of time and work to make it (hand-drawn on paper, then coloured in Photoshop by mouse). On top of that, I just couldn't keep up with the comic AND handling commissions and such. Since doing art is my job, I had to give up the comic so I could focus more on paying commissions.

Over the years, I've had tons of people ask me if I'll ever revive it. I'll be honest – I've stopped the comic while it was mid-story plot, and I never had the chance to finish it, and I've been tempted to at least finish off that story...yet, I still had a lot of stories to tell too. But then I remembered the ton of work it was, and as the years went on, I've gotten busier with other projects and didn't really have the time to be able to keep up with it if I ever revived it. I've also had one or two people offer to take over for me, but I've declined. HollyAnn and Trinsic are my husband and I's personal furry alter-egos, and Clax is a very dear character to my heart. I don't think I'd have the heart to leave the characters, plots and personalities of the characters to other people.

For now, the definite answer to “Will Mountain Poutine ever make a come-back?” is most likely no. My art style has changed somewhat over the years, and even if I had the time to pick it up again, it'll seem a little weird...and...old art is old. If I ever did pick it up again, I would most likely re-do the majority of the comic, better drawn than it is now, and offer it as a little comic book or something. But I honestly can't see myself doing this anytime soon, as I'm currently busy with a lot of projects, and more project ideas on the way.
