Today we're up at the top of the Christchurch Gondola again, on a rather more dreary day than my last visit. This panorama has been shot in the opposite direction to the one of Lyttelton.
Looking out over the industrial area of Hillsborough, we can see the Christchurch CBD. To the west we can see Riccarton and beyond, to the east we can see the seaside community of New Brighton along with the Avon Heathcote Estuary.
In the foreground you can see parts of the Castle Rock, Mount Pleasant and John Britten reserves, along with the Summit Road - unfortunately this has been closed to vehicular traffic since the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
