Santa Muerte on Tone Paper by GuineaPigDan

Santa Muerte on Tone Paper

GuineaPigDan

Waaaaay back in 2015, I did a sketch of the Mexican folk saint Santa Muete. https://www.weasyl.com/~guineapigdan/submissions/1148047/santa-muerte I wanted to revisit the figure so I did this new drawing of her with some of the symbols she is associated with, a scythe, a globe, and an owl (Mexican spotted owl to be exact). Many depictions of Santa Muerte have her in different colored robes which each have different meanings. Purple symbolizes protection against negative energy and good health, which I think is fitting in the time of the covid pandemic. Also I'm glad this time my drawing looks less like a Skeletor rip-off.

On Twitter you can see some different edits of this drawing, B&W, blue and red tinted variants. Also, if you go back on my timeline, you can find the embarrassing photo ref I used to make this drawing. https://twitter.com/GuineaPigDan/status/1431030395546390534?s=20
