One more reference sheet commission for jon825lazery7, this time of my character Pepper. I've been asked a few times what dog breed Pepper is and originally I said that he has no breed. Well, I finally sat down and looked at a bunch of dog breeds and I thought the Chesapeake Bay Retriever or Chessie might fit him best, based on the similar fur color and face shape. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chesapeake_Bay_Retriever However Pepper doesn't have wavy hair like Chessies do, but that could probably be explained by him straightening his fur or he trims it before it grows long to be wavy.

I guess I'll share some extra information about Pepper not in his profile. He was originally created for an animated assignment I did years ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1cgQsSjFDw He's named after a dog that was owned by my grandma. The name is the only thing both Peppers have in common though. The RL Pepper is actually a Schnauzer and a girl. If you look at my really old artwork of him, you'll see that he wasn't always fat. When I created Chuck a short time later, I made Chuck thin and Pepper fat so that both dogs would be more distinct from one another. And I gave Pepper an outie belly button so it would be different from Domino's belly button.
