My Nothing by Graowf

My Nothing

by Graowf

I have a Nothing in my pocket
that goes swimming in the night
in the shadows and the darkness
where it’s hidden out of sight.

When through the window light comes streaming
my Nothing runs away,
back into my pocket,
and it cowers there all day.

I sometimes make my fingers wiggle
in the space I’m sure it lies
to give a tummy tickle
to my nothing in disguise,

but never have I heard it laughing,
even with my finest jokes,
I cannot from my Nothing
a single chuckle coax.

Whenever it is feeling hungry
I give my Nothing food.
Not a single bite will it consume,
I think it rather rude.

I never see or hear my Nothing,
so I wonder if it’s there.
Maybe it’s not real at all,
just a figment — like that bear!

My Nothing

I wrote this one for kids some time ago. Mine like it, but don’t get the bear.
