GJ got eye surgery

GJ Wolf

I never really liked how GJ's eyes turned out. But he was my first suit after all, so some mistakes are going to happen. The iris' were always just too small, and their positioning made him look cross eyed. If you look close on the before shot, you can also see that I had used a plastic mesh and it was painted. The holes were much too big and the paint became lumpy. It wasn't even the bright blue I had wanted.

So, I decided that it was time to perform some eye surgery and to practice making eyes with buckram. I had never used it before and I am going to be using it on suits in the future. I'd rather practice on my own suit before messing with a clients.

I carefully cut out the backing of the old follow-me eyes. It was very tedious cause I put them in there so well. After removing the back of one, I traced the exact shape and size so that I could make a new backing. One the new eye backing was cut, and the new buckram eye, colored with alcohol based markers, was attached to the backing, I glued the eyes in.

The color is so much better! And my range of vision was increased. Totally worth the hassle. Now he doesn't look cross-eyed and the iris size is much better. Yay!
