Legends: Uesha by GameFreak38

Hailing from a proud, long-lived family, Uesha is currently next in line to become the empress of the kingdom that her family has ruled for the better part of the last couple of centuries.
In order to prepare her for the task ahead, her mother, the current empress of the land, made her do chores at a near-constant rate.  The goal of this was to teach her humility, something she believed was necessary to being a good ruler.  The effect that Uesha received was the opposite though.  The manual labor made the young child feel more in touch with herself, boosting her confidence as her physical abilities completed these tasks quickly and efficiently.  Her mother, while surprised, was proud to see her daughter find her inner strength.  It didn't take long for her to do the chores without being asked, but instead out of pure habit.  While unconfirmed, some servants of the palace say that she personally cleaned the entire building from top to bottom in the course of a week.
Uesha's mother eventually enrolled her in a local boarding school, which also specialized in the training of the magical arts.  There, she would be taught by Charon, an instructor of legendary caliber who is famous for his work with the royal family.  He gave Uesha an intense curriculum, focusing on magic and the history of the kingdom, per the empress' request.  She loved studying the history of the land, which spanned for millennia.  Every single detail that she heard or read was fascinating, embracing her attention.
It didn't take long before her research eventually made her study every possible thing that she came across.  Even the most mundane things became utterly fascinating to her.  Her thought process was often so active, that it prevented her from sleeping properly, leaving her to just think as the moon passes through the sky.  Charon noticed her fatigue and suggested that she begin meditating to calm her mind.  It took some time for her to get used to it as she experimented with her breathing and choice of location to meditate.  She eventually found the perfect spots in her personal quarters or out deep in the forests.  Uesha meditated multiple times a day, always easing and refreshing her mind for sleep or the next thing to study.
A few months later, she would begin to practice with her own magical power.  Charon remarked that her family is rumored to have the strongest aura of energy, but only based on the theory that the royal palace was built over a release point of pure mana.
To help her control this powerful energy, he recommended to focus her meditations on patience and her own emotions.  He would always warn her that a user that did not think clearly risked their very lives when casting magic.  Uesha took those words to heart as she began to practice.
Her sessions with Charon were with the other students that he taught, often taking shape of 'games' that tested their ability to recite a spell quickly. their accuracy and the power of the spell's intended effect.  Uesha enjoyed the games, often finding herself setting the example for the other students.  Instead of just embracing the flattery though, she often assisted the others in improving their own abilities when she had the time to.  It was a natural need for her to see everyone succeed.
As she practiced, she met Nimbus, a fairy that was there to assist Charon.  The two became instant friends.  The friendship was strong enough to allow Nimbus to confess his own inability to use magic due to a genetic disability within his body.  Knowing this, she worked with Charon to create some games for him to participate in, giving him a sense of comfort with his own tasks and studies.
During her time at the school, another instructor had Uesha follow a rigorous exercise routine, believing that a future empress needs to be physically strong to be prepared for any threat.  Thanks to her routine chores as a child, she had a head start in terms of ability and fitness.  She would only improve from there.  Her greatest pleasure while attending the school was the time she spent running across the trees, which she did in an incredibly graceful fashion.
She also proved her ability to be sociable while in the school.  Despite her having what some would call a sheltered life before the school, she naturally was able to talk to others.  Despite her slow and sometimes over-pronounced voice, she managed to establish friendships and make allies.  When she was in the midst of a debate, she never disagreed with her opponent, often choosing to send a letter to discuss her own thoughts in a private, professional manner.  Her friendly, trusting demeanor eventually captured the attention of the citizens, creating excitement for when she would take the throne.
This attitude also leads to some concerns among certain groups about her being the next empress.  They claim that such a nature is a great weakness that blinds her to the inner darkness within others.  Some fear for her life, claiming that if there was ever an enemy to her, they could perform a coup d'état.  Such fears were often exaggerated though.
Still, some chose to bring their concerns to her through letters.  She replied to them all, thanking them for noticing this weakness and that she would improve on it.  Citizens were surprised to see her reply so kindly to their criticisms.
Her meditation returned to the idea of how to become more cunning and manipulative.  She didn't want to change her friendly and respectful manner, but hoped that she could use it to her advantage to obtain more information.  She hoped that there would never be an enemy to her, only wishing to use such a subtle technique to help others turn their weaknesses into strengths.
Uesha is not expected to become the empress for some time, but she still continues to train from the day of her birth.  Inside, she prepares her mind for what will be an exciting future.

This entry is my part of an art trade with Jumbi on dA that I did back in spring.

It had been forever since I had last written something on royalty, but it was fun to do.

All characters here belong to Jumbi.
