Galaxyqueen

The urge to make an alien species based off bats and a few other animals hit me out of nowhere so I decided to go ahead and make it. (For those curious, yes, this species has hooves).

Ok so where do I begin? This is a species that resides within the Bogon galaxy, their home planet being Vaknar III. Since the planet is mostly composed of canyons this species has carved their homes and their cities into the canyon sides over the centuries they’ve been there. Thanks to the galaxy having been overrun by Megacorp the Xivlok have developed a hatred for company and everything associated with it. As a result they choose to stay secluded on their homeworld, no longer associating themselves with the rest of the galaxy.

Because of the predators on their homeworld being active during the day they become active in the night to not only avoid attacks but also to get the drop on unsuspecting slumbering prey during hunts for food. Still over the centuries they’ve had to develop natural defense mechanisms since not all predators are active during the day. Their blood is hemotoxic, and while their bodies have developed strong hearts that can handle the toxicity predators have not. The Xivlok are also capable of pushing their ribs through their skin which gives them a row of spikes along each side and they are also coated with their toxic blood. That way when a predator attempts to attack and eat one of them they are not only stabbed but the blood is also able to invade their system and attack their heart fairly quickly. The Xivlok are fast healers, once their ribs sink back into their body the blood clots almost immediately and the skin is completely repaired after a half hour if it doesn’t end up infected.

I did not fully follow bat anatomy for this species since I wanted to make them look alien. I decided to give them four arms and the first set would contain their wings while the second would be normal. Their defense mechanism was inspired off of the spanish ribbed newt. I really liked the concept of being able to use ones own ribs/bones as a weapon and I haven’t seen anybody else really use it in their own creations. So I decided to snatch it up before anybody else could. Honestly I’m quite happy with what I’ve come up with.
