Ruyn is learning intermediate fire magic, and this first ability (Manipulate Smoke) isn't exactly going well for him. The best basic ability to think of when learning Manipulate Smoke is Manipulate Fire... the thing is, that's one of Ruyn's weaker abilities (due in part to the chaos that was the class he took for it & mainly due to the fact that he never studies).

So he basically spent a lot of time inhaling smoke as his attempts to control it either didn't work or completely backfired. Poor Ms. Netty wants to help Ruyn, but, to quote Ruyn, "I'm fine, COUGH HACK, I'm fine!" He basically waved off any concerns and attempts to help.

Although Ms. Netty totally talked him into going to the doctor once the week was over (he claims he didn't need it but fiiiiine if she's gonna make such a big deal about it). So thankfully there won't be any lasting damage! XD
