This was unexpected, but I ran into a situation about this topic and felt I needed to do a quick rendition of it. As my first comic strip, I scribbled this up in around an hour, but the message is the most important point. Artists that devalue their art in front of others do not come across as humble. In fact, it can unexpectedly make them appear like a jerk. Many people get hurt all the time from situations like this. I hope it can be a lesson for anyone that does this, has done this, or is thinking about getting into art, your words and actions CAN and DO inadvertently affect others. Art is a journey and is about the process, not the end result.

We've all had the days of ripping our hair out, hating our work, wanting to throw a pencil at the wall (I know I have), but that should stay in private time and discussion with close friends. Don't bring it to the public domain as there are many aspiring artists that may be around you. If you don't care for your work, say you're "unhappy" with it. Negativity is toxic. The last thing a budding artist needs is another self loathing artist making them feel insecure when they just started.

Stay positive, help others, and take the journey together. This stuff ain't easy. ;)
