Pangaroo Species Guide

fumi-LEX

Please note that this is NOT a pangalion kangaroo hybrid. This is a creature with features from many other creatures mixed in, please do not be confused by the name.

Also this pangaroo is mine.

SPECIES NAME - Pangaroo

  • These creatures are domesticated, they are kept as companion animals (pets).
  • They feed on fruits, nuts, vegetables, and certain insects.
  • These are very social creatures and require a lot of affection, they can literally die of loneliness. It's a good idea to own more then one if you can't give them the constant attention they need.
  • They are highly intelligent, and communicate with one another through a series of clicks, chirps, and snorts (when surprised or irritated).
  • About the size of a cat, though with the added length of the tail.
  • Ears have muscles that allow them to pull down over the face.
  • The eye is always 3 different shades of one color. The innermost eye is a lighter shade, the outermost eye is a darker shade, and the middle is between those shades.
  • Front feet have 4 toes and pawpads. The long, thick claws are excellent digging utensils.
  • A stretchy layer of skin covers the back of the head, arms, back, and top of the tail. When in danger, the pangaroo can pull the skin over it's body using a muscle that lines the edge of that skin. When stretched, the skin becomes extremely tough to penetrate, effectively protecting the pangaroo from predators.
  • Hind feet are hoof-like, and have an extra digit on both sides of the foot that are equipped with long, curved claws. These claws are very useful when climbing, and can fold back out of the way when not in use. These claws can grow especially long on males, possibly to impress females.
  • Skin is often freckled or splotched, see here.
  • Tail is prehensile and can curl around things to aid climbing. Very long or very short tails are rare.
  • These creatures can be super hard to handle because of their play habits. They love to dig and climb, and will knock shit over and dig holes in your floor unless you provide them a playground to satisfy their desires. A small area with a high roof, lined with ledges and stairs to climb on, with a sandbox covering the floor for digging and to minimize injury if they fall (unlikely but still) is essential for properly raising pangaroos.

  • The fur has two colors and any color between those, fur color is always natural. A visual of what I mean

  • Eyes, mouth, and claws are 3 shades of one color. Teeth are always the lightest shade.

  • Fur always has at least a few speckles, and they can be restricted to areas (like if the fur only had speckles on the head and tail for example) See different varieties of speckles here.

  • Fur comes in 4 types, see here. Plush is super soft and clings to itself to form clumps, silky is smooth and doesn't tangle, common is a sort of in-between of plush/silky, and curly is super soft as well.
