First post here, thought I'd put up my most recent work.

So, this is a short story I wrote. The first line just came to me one day, and a story quickly grew from it. It's about an otter, who never quite knows what to say, trying to comfort his lion boyfriend, whose family is facing an epidemic. The story traces parallel lines of the stages of grief with the social, geographical, and biological paths of the infection. The disease is vaguely based off of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

It's a sad story, I won't lie, but I think it's heartwarming in a lot of ways; I don't think you'll go away feeling worse or depressed for reading it.

I decided to put this up here rather than try and publish it. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it, and I hope you come to love Dane, Shawn, and Shawn's family as much as I do.
