Charkol wasn't exactly one to really understand how royalty worked most of the time, considering that he didn't care much for getting into the intricacies of lineage or succession. Regardless of his disinterest, spending time in the company of those who were quite well off wasn't something that he snubbed his nose at. By one method or another, Charkol managed to find himself catching Drake's eye while going about his usual business, be it by the usual protection and delivery jobs he often took on, or by his mulling about one of the towns that fell under his soverignty.

Considering what was promised -- food, lodging, company and servents -- Charkol didn't have much of a reason to turn down the opportunity at at least a temporary stay in a lifestyle of luxury. Shortly after, it became pretty quickly apparent that Drake was quite intent on keeping Charkol around, keeping him consistently well-fed. Feasts were frequent and most of the time additional food was piled onto the maroon charizard's plate without him asking, gradually training up his appetite!

As his gut began to round out, Drake often took to having perosnal meals with Charkol, making sure that there was time for them to enjoy the grand foods that were prepared. At times, Drake helped his new subject with completely finishing his plates, with a much more limited or completely absent audience! Of course, Charkol didn't mind in the least bit as he managed to keep his belly topped off day in and day out!
