Well, here's something novel: A remake of a picture I've already reposted here.

I actually started this a year or so ago, and got as far as the shading before I got distracted. Good thing, too, because looking back I have no idea how I pulled it off. It was an experiment in a new method: Shade in pure black on top of an all-white layer, and then use gradient maps to tint the intermediate colors, much like how Valve does the toon shading in TF2. It worked great aside from the fact that it took like 20 layers plus masks for the coloring alone and then I had to repeat the process on the outlines. The sequins are a whole new technique that I guess I have to do a new tutorial for one of these days.

...I don't expect you'll see a lot more pieces like this in the near future.
