Holy moly, the detail in each scale is mind boggling and it all really accentuates the direction of the lighting. I hope I can eventually get to your level some day. O.o
I hope it's not rude of me to ask, but do you have any little tips on how to go about working with scales? (aside from the givens of course, reference and lots of practice. ^^; )
Thanks! The only thing I can really say is to treat them as a 3D object (which seems obvious but it's amazing how many people overlook that). Otherwise I'm afraid I don't know any short-cuts to get them looking nice!
That's some good advice. It does sounds simple, I've been trying to get that down with my shading practice, but it can be remarkably difficult. I appreciate it, and I should know better that there's no shortcut to such success. ^^;
