Over at tumblr like half a year ago I mentioned I wanted to make some starters based on my birth Province of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

One night I couldn't really rest so I actually got around to doing that finally! While I go into way more elaborate detail on the creative process over on my blog the basic for this mon is its based on both a dairy cow and a minotaur. Fire type starters tend to be based loosely on the signs from the Chinese zodiac and the bull is one of those. Cows are a very common sight on PEI and the only other common one that hasn't been represented by the zodiac is rabbits so given the nature of the water starter I definitely figured the Bull was the better choice.
As a last quick point I know it is kinda generic to give a fire starter a burning tail but this one is actually based on real life anatomy! Cattle use their tail to swat away bugs and bug type pokemon are weak to fire. So it makes a whole lot of sense for a fire bull to have a tail that's burning!
