Recently I joined Aywas which is a hoity toity pet site that lets you submit your own content. Unlike FR where its only skins to place over dragons you can modify the heck out of pets on site and even submit your own. You can even design cosmetic items to submit to the site. Before moving on to my own sci fi stuff I did a few different custom things, some of them I can't really submit here because they're only pet edits but these are two "from scratch" designs.

The big one is being submitted as a pet itself and is basically a throwback to a familiar idea I had for flight Rising back in 2014. I will say I'm actually pretty impressed that I seem to have actually improved a lot more at art then I thought I had.

The other a custom item, it will be a fauna (think a familiar on FR or petpet on Neopets), they were design to be a lot more simple and cartoony since the size for these things are quite tiny. I even set this time to be publicly available so any member of the site will be able to get it.

So yeah I am going to get back to my own stuff now, I have a ton of references saved for a piece that is very different than what I've been doing lately. Thing concept art instead of reference sheets.

So enjoy!

EDIT: I should note the big one got rejected for being too humanoid. Not angry just clarifying just in case people joins Aywas and looks around for this guy. I figured it may be I was just trying to once ever not play it safe lol.

Really loving their designs and colors!

Wow, I love all the detail you put into the alien anatomy! The fauna critter is really charming too - I especially like the star shapes. =)

thanks :D. While the big alien was too humanoid and rejected (tis fine though I had suspicious is may be) the fauna did get accepted and people said nice things about it!

Cool! I'm not very familiar with how that site works - if it gets accepted does that mean other users can adopt it?

Oh my this is going to take a lot explaining because the game is decently complex!
Usually when you submit a custom pet on site there's only 1 of them, in theory people you could give it to someone as a gift or put it in the adoption center though custom pets tend to be highly sought after objects so you probably would reselling it. One way you can indirectly let people adopt a copy of your custom is by making the .psd for it available somehow. Some people will sell these while others will make it freely available in something called the edit repository.
Also if your pet is an edit of an on site genus and not 100% original work like the above drawing some events let users submit their own edits and these become official designs that will appear in the encyclopedia of the site and have their own name. Some may even be used in the adventure mode of the game in which they can be caught much like Pokemon!

For items like fauna you can submit them site wide using something called a custom item package. When you do that you get to decide if there's only going to be 1 copy of the item or if it will be available to everyone at a certain rarity. You can also select the item to show up in a shop to make it even easier for everyone to get a copy of it.

Hopefully that all makes sense D:

I see! I think I get it. So did you make your fauna available to everyone or is it a super special Goatlactic-only critter?

            • Link

I made it available to everyone because I wanted to be nice :D

              • Link

Hooray! Let's hope many people get to enjoy this little critter.

Both versions of your familiar alien are very lovely, considering the colors used on the vague humanoid.

thank you :3 I'm glad I rarely get to use nice bright saturated colors without feeling like I'm blinding someone lmao.
