(Story) Slow Day by Extraxi

The sun was high, but the skies dark. Magnus sat in his throne, toes curled. his audience, a no show. The overcast was darkening, and as he looked over his shoulder, beyond his window, he figured it was big enough to prevent those seeking an audience from coming outside.

Heavy weather wasn't unusual, but it didn't make it less safe. With his hands to his knees, he lifts himself up off his cushioned throne, tail pulling up through its hole as the plated dragon began to walk to his left, towards the stairs to his chamber. "No visitors," he grumbled for no one to hear.

Though there was someone to hear the inaudible as the door, the massive heavy door, slowly creaked.. not quite open. Magnus turned his attention and waited a moment, stilling his breath to hear it of another lizard. He moved to the door, and opened it wide, little Amit stuck on its side. His tail and feet dragged as the door was open, and when it came to a stop, he immediately climbed onto his Master's foot.

Amit didn't say much, and neither did Magnus. One held on as the other turned and walked to his chambers, closing the large door behind with his heavy tail. Amit held tight as he went up each large step, looking out the grand window pane as it began to rain. Heavy droplets of water quickly pelleted the glass, so Amit held tighter.

The rain was something Magnus enjoyed. The dimmer light, the massage it would give the land, bring new life.. clean some roofs. He stopped for a moment to look out at the rain, but then looked up as something fell on his head.

Duff was poking his head under the railing from the Master's bedroom, and next to him was his tail, hanging down and bumping against Magnus' head. Duff gave a big smile, and Magnus, though limited in his expression, gave the colorful gecko a warm look with his eyebrows relaxed and a little teeth shown, trying to emulate a smile in his form.

"Come up, Master!" the excited Duff squeaked, "I helped make the bed and some popcorn!" Magnus began to chuckle as he climbed the rest of the stairs, rounding the bend and walking into the open of his vast room. Duff quickly ran over and climbed onto his Master's other foot, and smiled at Amit and gave a wave that Amit would give too.

Weighed down by the little gecko weight on his shins, he stepped around carefully to avoid their tails. He came to his nook for TV and games to find his third pet, fast asleep. Talon groaned and squirmed at all the commotion, and suddenly lightning stuck the ocean. As thunder roared out, as loud as it could be, Talon shot up and looked around, "What happened!?"

Nothing was on fire, and everything was in place. The only thing new was Magnus with two geckos climbing up to his face. Talon gufawed at the sight at first, but then realized it was three, not one. Magnus nudged to his shoulders the little pet geckos, and Talon gleamed excitedly, "Hello, Master!"

With a giant plated hand to his head, Talon would purr playfully for his Master, then scooch to the side of the couch. Magnus rested his hands on the back of the couch, and with a sudden hoist, swung both of his lets over to the side opposite Talon and slammed his feet to the ground as the couch embraced his back.

Not one, but two bowls of popcorn, one of kettlecorn and the other of butter, fit for a dragon, sat on the relatively little table. Amit and Duff climbed their way down into Magnus' lap, and Talon leaned in, resting against him as an arm came over and pulled him more in.

It was a nice little family scene, Magnus and his pets sitting together, and with one free hand, he'd dig the remote from the couch and turn the TV on.
