I was going for an anime style and kinda over worked it. Oh well! There's always next time.
The program I've been using isn't particuliarly good at producting smooth lines (or if it is, it's a feature that has generally eluded me). It does however have an excellent range of brush tools, which I have been exploring. Also, a portion of the fuzziness is contributed by converting the image from a .tif to .jpeg so I can submit anywhere. .jpegs just don't keep the fidelity of the image very well.
I do have a different program I've been poking around with, but it doesn't have the same range of brushes but does have some decently smooth lines. Unfortunately, the two programs do not get on terribly well together and don't use the same file types in the same way (you can't keep your layers between the two).
Anywho! Still experimenting here.

it's very pretty, and a nice color job. I still feel like your work could benefit from some solid lines and borders. it could help smooth out the rougher edges. Try adding a stroke in your art program and see what happens.
