I suppose so. All the rights of the illustration itself belong to me, though, so if I say it's alright to use as wallpaper, then it's alright.
I can sort of understand it being odd to have characters you don't know anything about on your desktop though. I might be a bit numb to it, since so much of my art is commissioned work.
